The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates across Ghana.
According to WAEC’s statement issued on September 4, a total of 512,862 candidates from 1,022 schools sat for the exams. This marks an 11.07% increase compared to the 461,736 candidates who entered for the 2025 examinations. The candidate pool comprised 225,270 males and 287,592 females, with only 5,049 candidates (0.98%) recorded as absent.
Core Subject Performance Breakdown
Performance across the four core subjects highlights strong passes (grades A1 to C6), led notably by Social Studies:
Social Studies: 78.04% (393,918 candidates) achieved A1–C6, while 7.81% (39,416) recorded an F9.
English Language: 62.40% (315,094 candidates) achieved A1–C6, with 11.08% (55,940) obtaining an F9.
Integrated Science: 62.08% (309,605 candidates) achieved A1–C6, alongside 15.27% (76,136) securing an F9.
Core Mathematics: 60.75% (306,234 candidates) achieved A1–C6, while 14.82% (74,692) recorded an F9.
How to Check Your Results
WAEC has confirmed that results have been successfully hosted online. Login details are being distributed to heads of schools to allow candidates to view their results.
Students can check and access their provisional results directly through the WAEC Ghana official website.
Important Warning Against Fraudsters
In light of the release, WAEC has issued a stern warning to candidates and the general public regarding scammers and fraudsters claiming they can upgrade examination grades for a fee.
The Council emphasized that all results are thoroughly secured and can be independently authenticated using its official results verification system or by downloading and scanning the embedded WAEC QR code.
